CONTINUING the big name billing as part of the Grin Up North Comedy Festival 2009, Simon Amstell takes to the Irwin Mitchell Oval Hall on Sunday 18th October 2009.
The ex-presenter of Never Mind the Buzzcocks has steadily built up a reputation for razor-sharp wit, as much as intelligent and thought-provoking comedy.

Way back when, Amstell started his career at Nickelodeon, before going on to co-host Channel
4's Popworld with Miquita Oliver.

It was the latter that brought Amstell to the attention of the general public as he quickly became famed for his original, hilarious and sometimes controversial interviewing style, often at the expense of the pop celebrity in question.

With his potential highlighted, the BBC snared him for Never Mind the Buzzcocks in 2006 where he took over the presenting slot from Mark Lamarr, and garnered himself several television awards over the three years he was there.

Having moved away from TV presenting recently, Amstell is now becoming a regular sell out on the stand up circuit and is in the process of penning a comedy project for the BBC.

Tickets for the 8pm show on Sunday 18th October at the Irwin Mitchell Oval Hall are priced £18 and £20.
