Worksop Town's new management team were delighted with the professional performance of the players as the Tigers crushed local rivals Staveley Miners' Welfare.

It was the manner of the 5-0 victory rather than the actual scoreline that particularly pleased Duncan Milligan and John Buckley.

Milligan and Buckley said the balance of first team regulars and the under-19 players who have broken through into the senior squad was right and working well.

They said: “We were really pleased with the first half an hour of the game.

“We started well after we had a little pop before the game because we were not happy with how they warmed up.

“We just simply said to the lads to ‘get a grip of yourself and make sure you do things right’, which they did from 1 to 16. They were excellent.
