Soucek leaves Virgin Racing
VIRGIN Racing test driver Andy Soucek has terminated his contract with the Dinnington outfit.
The Spainaird was rumoured to have been unhappy at a lack of driving opportunies with the Formula One newboys, but spoke out this week to deny the split was acrimonious.
Speaking to Spanish sports newspaper AS, the 25-year old said he was parting company with Virgin Racing on good terms: "I asked them to give me the opportunity to continue to race in other categories and they accepted."
"The experience has helped me to come to know F1. I wish them all the best, and they wish the same for me. It was friendly and nothing to do with payments or non-payments."
"I'm thankful that they didn't cause me any trouble, which they could have done, to break the contractual relationship for good. There was no breach of any kind."
Soucek hopes that a career in Formula One is still possible, despite quitting the Virgin team.
John Booth's Virgin Racing team are back in action on 27th August at Spa in Belgium.
