Seventh heaven for Town

DINNINGTON Town made it seven games unbeaten with a 3-1 victory at AFC Emley on Saturday.

Saturday’s outing was the first of a five-game stretch away from home, and Town began their travels well.

Man of the Match James Coulbeck put Steve Toyne’s men ahead on six minutes, with a 20-yard effort that found the bottom corner of the net.

Liam Cartledge went close, skimming the right hand upright, and then a Michael Trench corner fizzed across the goal but James Roper couldn’t get a final touch.

Cartledge hit the bar with a header, Mat Smith brougth a fine save from the keeper and Mat Lepianka’s shot hit the woodwork as Town peppered their hosts’ goal looking for number two.

But seven minutes into the second half it was 1-1 as Emley found the net – Town aggrieved as they thought Luke Hands had been pushed into his goal before Sean Hazelden netted.

Two superb goals ensured the points came back to Phoenix Park however.

The first was made by Martin Wade and Coulbeck, Cartledge finishing their good work on 65 minutes.

Then Coulbeck was the provider again, splitting the defence with a cross-field pass to set Trench free and the youngster shot low past the keeper for 3-1.
