Ramsey on good form

ASTON Hall moved into second position and kept their unbeaten record intact with a 47 run victory over Mexborough at Green Lane.

SOUTH YORKSHIRE LEAGUE

Division One

Aston Hall 213 for 7

Mexborough 166 for 7

Aston batted first and after Carl Tiler with 33 and Scott Jones with 37 built a platform, Rob Ward with 50 and Tim Shaw with 46 not out raised the score to 213 for 7.

The Mexborough innings gained momentum after the sixth wicket fell, and Ryan Tingle smashed 46 aided by John Chantry with 31 not out.

Mexborough's innings closed at 166 for 7. Scott Jones took 3 for 17 for Aston.

Division Two

Collegiate C 96

Maltby 97 for 3

MALTBY B enjoyed a good victory over Collegiate C fell at Abbeydale.

Skipper Dave Jones opened with 30 but the guiles of Luke Aspey saw him waltz through the rest of the team and finish with an analysis of 6 for 20.

Kevin Porter took 3 for 6.

In Maltby's reply skipper Carl porter opened with 30 and Maltby only needed three wickets for victory.

Division Four

Maltby B 156 for 9

Norton Oakes B 158 for 6

MALTBY batted first and scored a reasonable 156 for 9, with 17-year-old Ashley Ramsey scoring an excellent 42.

His only other back up was opening partner Anthony Ward, who hit 29, and Liam Woodward, who reached 34 which included seven fours. Ramsey and Woodward put on a 50-run partnership for the fifth wicket.

The pick of the Norton attack was Ross Hepplestone, who finished with figures of 3 for 47.

In reply, Norton Oakes reached the target with just under 10 overs and four wickets to spare. Norton had veteran John Davison to thank for reaching their target with a sparkling innings off 71.

The only Maltby bowler to come out off the game with credit was Steve Arrowsmith, who finished with figures of 2 for 28.
