Grimsby Borough prove too tough for Dinnington

Dinnington Town 1 Grimsby Borough 2

A much changed Dinnington side struggled from the ouset to cope with a well organised Grimsby team.

The team which was already reeling from the news that first choice keeper Luke Hands had broken his leg were soon further depleted when John Somerset left after 15 mins with a leg injury.

Grimsby should have scored after 25 mins when a misplaced backpass left their striker with a clear chance but he could only hit the cross bar.

The second half saw Grimsby take a deserved lead after 65mins following some poor defensive play and they increased their lead on 77 mins with a well taken goal.

Town scored a consolation penalty on 80mins from Michael Blythen following a foul on Charlie Weir and came close to getting what would have been an undeserved equaliser.
