Championship

Thoresby Colliery 151 all out

Anston 153 for 4

Anston won the toss and put Thoresby in on a very hot day.

Good early pressure from Ruczenczyn saw an early breakthrough with a great slip catch by Lyne Birkett (10).

Partnerships were built by Thoresby, but it was an excellent fielding performance by Anston that saw them take seven catches.

Extreme pressure from both slow bowlers Carter and Perera really turned the screw for Anston.

Carter was the real star of the day, taking his best ever figures of 7 for 42 in a great spell of spin bowling.

Thoresby were all out for 151 on what looked like a good wicket. For Thoresby, Cheshire top scored with 31.

Anston were very happy with their first half performance and were looking to put two halves together.

A good start from Lyne (34) got Anston off and flying, and when Perera (71 not out) came in the runs flowed.

The loss of few quick wickets ended when Ruczenczyn came in to finish the game with Perera.

The first local derby between Anston and Kiveton takes place on Saturday, which promises to be a great game.

It starts at 1.30pm with the bar and food available shortly after the start. Visitors welcome.

In the wake of this, Steve Ludlam bowled exceptionally well, taking 5 for 47 in a fine spell.
