WELBECK men played the other team who came down from Division One last season, Doncaster B.
There was another marathon between the first pairs.

This time it was Tim Hart and Sandy Fulton who lost 10-6 in the third set tiebreak after coming back from 2-5 in the first set saving six set points then losing a 6-3 lead in the tiebreak before
losing that set.

However second pair Dave Millns and Russell Kemp won their third set tiebreak and third pair Steve White and Sean Ryan beat the third pair convincingly 6-3, 6-2.

The next round of matches went to form with Tim and Sandy beating the second pair 6-2, 6-3 and Steve and Sean losing to the first pair 1-6, 6-7 after spurning a 5-1 lead in the second set.

However Dave and Russell had a disastrous match, losing 2-6, 2-6 to the third pair.

Cometh the hour, cometh the men, and those men were Dave and Russell.

Tim and Sandy beat the third pair whilst Steve and Sean lost to the second pair so Dave and Russell knew they had to beat the first pair for the team to win the match.

After losing the first set 1-6, they fought back to win the second set 7-5 before clinching the third set tiebreak 10-8.

Welbeck Men’s second team recorded a welcome win in Division Four.

They beat Thorncliffe B 7-2.

Pick of the pairs was first pair Nick Sturrock and Nick Janakowski who conceded only four games in their three matches.

Second pair Dave Morris and Addy Hill weighed in with two victories as did third pair Andy Priestley and Dave Simpson.
