WALESWOOD'S second team went to the top of Division Seven after another comfortable victory, this time at Sherwood.
Batting first the visitors made a steady start through Danny Spotwood and Gerry Myatt.

The pitch was slow and the batsmen worked hard to take the score to 62 before Spotwood was first out for 20.

Myatt soon followed for a gritty 32 and with Peter Norbury soon out for 1, Waleswood had slumped to 68 for 3.

Shaun Grice and Adam Russell then added 38 before Grice was next to go for 20. Steve Atkinson's quick 16 and Bob Goodman who failed to score, put the visitors on 124 for 6.

A quick injection was needed and joining Russell, skipper Wayne Lomas added 56 to take the total to 180 for 6 from their 46 overs.

Russell remained 43 not out and Lomas 31 not out. G Miller 3 for 33 was supported by J Parker 2 for 17 and T. Boulton 1 for 34.

Sherwood's reply was halted by 2 wickets for John Blood, but at 57 for 2 there looked little danger for the hosts.

Shaun Grice was then joined by Dave Chambers in the attack and they demolished Sherwood for 66.

Grice finishing with figures of 5 for 14 and Chambers 3 for 7. Only Miller 27 was able to show resistance.
