MALTBY Main suffered another loss, despite leading in the first half - again.
NCEL PREMIER
Maltby Main 2
Pickering Town 3
ANOTHER lacking second-half performance saw Maltby Main squander a two-goal lead at home to Pickering Town last weekend.
The Pikes arrived at Muglet Lane just a point behind Steve Adams's men in the NCEL Premier.
Opening the scoring for Main from the penalty spot was Robert Branagan, inside the first 10 minutes after a foul on Chris Wood.
And the home side doubled their lead on the half-hour mark, with a swift counter-attacking move.
Pickering's Joe Connor whipped in a corner which was cleared, and allowed Wood to measure a through ball towards Daniel Patterson, who slotted home from 12 yards.
Seven days before, Maltby had failed to take points from their match at Parkgate despite a half-time advantage.
The same happened against Pickering – who stormed out of the blocks in the second half.
Pickering's Liam Salt struck an upright a minute after the restart, but he was awarded a penalty three minutes later after a last-man challenge from Jonathan Wragg, who was promptly sent off.
Mark Swales stepped up to halve Maltby's lead.
They levelled from the spot with half an hour left when Shaun Lee fouled Chas Wrigley.
Swales scored his second penalty of the afternoon, and then set up Chas Wrigley for the winner.
MALTBY lost 4-2 at Handsworth in the Sheffield Senior Cup on Wednesday.
The goals came from John Beggs and Simon Hickey.
l MAIN face Hallam away at Sandygate tomorrow.
