DINNINGTON racing prospect Sam Hanby has endured a tough three stages in the Auto 66 Club Championship but is still at the top of the leadeoard.
In his last three races the Dinnington Comprehensive student has blown an engine, struggled to fourth place with a new engine and at the weekend at Teeside the rain caught him and his team out.

With a tyre set-up for a dry track, Hanby was in trouble when the heavens opened and turned the track into a river, according to father Steve.

He told the Guardian: "Fate was against him again. The bike was set up with dry tyres and the rain turned the track into a river. He fell off in qualification but in the points race still managed to finish fifth."

"He's still in the lead in the championship but he's had a bad time over the last six weeks."

Sam's next race is in a fortnight at Elvington, York and there are just five stages left in the championship race.
