DIVISION ONE
Aston Hall 155
Whiston PC 158 for 5
WHISTON PC may be starting to build up momentum as they overcame local rivals Aston Hall at Green Lane to put themselves firmly back in the chasing pack.

Batting first, the hosts were struggling at 60 for 4, but 40 each from C. Holland and J. Garn
ham moved Aston into a better position with a late 22 from J. Armstrong giving the batting side 155 all out in the last over.

Steve Taylor (3 for 36) and Nicky Struggles (3 for 32) were the main wicket takers for Whiston, with Scott Jones the master of economy conceding only 29 from his 15 overs.

In reply, Steve Taylor (37) and Scott Jones (43) led the way as Whiston passed the total with 10 overs to spare giving them a useful five-wicket win and taking maximum points.

However, the loss of Pete Wilson with a broken finger will be a big gap for Whiston to fill.

DIVISION TWO
Maltby 277 for 3
Sheffield United 170 for 5

MALTBY displayed the power of their batting to outscore Sheffield United B at Muglet Lane.

Stumper Paul Pendle opened with 71 and fellow opener Salman Butt amassed 115.

This was followed by 56 from skipper Carl Porter as Maltby amassed a massive total of 277 for 3.

In reply United lost early wickets until Carl Jones was accompanied by Adam Thorpe.

The two batsmen batted diligently until Thorpe left for 37.

Jones stayed to reach 63 not out at the close.

DIVISION THREE
Frecheville 233 for 4
Aston Hall B 234 for 5

SINCE leading Division Three some three weeks ago Frecheville have lost all their matches since and their latest defeat against Aston Hall B at Silkstone Road enabled their visitors to move out of the relegation positions.

Frecheville elected to bat first and on a good wicket made the Aston bowlers and fielders toil throughout the afternoon.

Stumper Steven Hollingsworth hit 101 and fellow opener Alan Wake 105 in an opening partnership of 214.

Frecheville set the target at 233 for 4.

Aston were equal to the task however.

Veteran Malcolm Shaw led the way with a sparkling innings of 105 as the visitors came home with five wickets and eight balls to spare.

Thorncliffe B 193 for 8
Maltby B 205 for 7

MALTBY B are one of two teams still with an unbeaten record this season but they were made to fight all the way to retain it against Thorncliffe B at Loundside at the weekend.

Maltby opener Harry Graham struck 65 and Tom Groom added 50 as Maltby registered a total of 205 for 7.

David Pearson bowled well for 5 for 59.

In reply opener Ian Gregory added 32, but the star turn was 16-year-old Nathan Earnshaw who reached 70 before he was run out.

David Pearson added 35 but the Thorncliffe chase ended 12 runs short at 193 for 8.

Tom Groom took 4 for 24.
