FORWARD-THINKING boss Steve Adams said he will 'leave no stone unturned' to make sure his new team Maltby Main are fully prepared for next season.
With pre-season preparations well under way, the ex-Stocksbridge youth coach has identified the need for fresh blood.
"Our aim is for long-term development, not just a quick fix solution. We're looking at players that are under 25," said new boss Ad
ams.
"There are players training with us at the minute but nobody has been signed up just yet."
"We've been looking at every position, but specifically a goalkeeper."
Since keeper Gerrard Bowtell-Harris returned to Australia at the end of last season, Main have been left short between the sticks.
"We've got two goalkeepers training with us who are free agents. It wouldn't be prudent for me to say who they are yet, but it's looking promising," added Adams.
After his first meetings with the players, Adams said he is raring to get started and mould a team capable of succeeding in the Northern Counties East Premier Division next season.
"I've only had a couple of sessions with the lads and each week is going to be a learning curve and a lot of work needs doing."
"Fitness levels are as I would expect them to be for this time of year, but we'll be making sure to monitor their fitness each week from here on in."
Despite coming from a youth set-up at Stocksbridge, Adams has no worries about the task facing him with Main.
He said: "Settling in has been alright – not a problem."
"Players are players no matter what level they are playing at. They will have the opportunity here – it's up to them to take it."
