DINNINGTON'S Steve Toyne refuses to see his side as the underdogs for Saturday's clash with local rivals Maltby Main.
Dinnington Town clinched promotion last season to join Main in the Northern Counties East Premier, but with 16 games played, Town are five places above the Muglet Laners.
Speaking ahead of the derby, Toyne said: "I don't feel we're the underdogs at all, we'll give it our best shot and hopefully we can put a decent side out."
The manager admitted that the presence of four of his former players in the Main line-up will only serve to fire his team up for the game.
"There are four of our ex-players turning out of them and it is an extra bit of motivation, but it's still disappointing that we lost any of them, especially Matt Griffin, who looked set to sign for us but went to them instead," he said.
Toyne hopes to have captain Andy Sykes, Brad Elam, Grant Allot and Shane Toulson back in contention, after all four were missing on Saturday for Town's 2-2 draw with Liversedge.
Toyne said: "It was a good game, if I had paid to watch it I would have got value for money, and I think we shaded it."
"We could have had three penalties."
Allot got Town's first goal, his 11th of the season, while new Moroccan signing Samir Boulchssor headed a late equaliser to secure a point for Town.
MEANWHILE, Maltby boss Steve Adams expects a derby full of spice, when his men take their current run of form to Phoenix Park.
The Main manager added former Dinnington players Jon and Matt Wragg to his squad this season, and recently signed Gary Hibbert and Matt Griffin.
He believes Saturday's opponents will be revved up for the derby, and will want to show the quartet they made a mistake by leaving Town to join Main.
Adams told the Guardian: "It's a local derby, so it should be spicy. We have some old Dinnington players who are keen to do well against their old club and Dinnington will be up for it I'm sure."
"I can imagine how their team talk will go in the changing room."
Main have lost only one of their last six league outings, and striker Rob Branagan has netted eight times in six games, giving Adams cause for optimism.
He said: "We had been playing well for a while without getting any luck, so it's nice to see us have some for a change."
"Rob is on a good run of form, but there is a lot of hard work going on behind him, and Matt Wragg is partnering him well."
Saturday's derby kicks off at 3pm at Phoenix Park.
