DINNINGTON Town left the snowy wastelands of South Yorkshire for Bridlington on Saturday, eager for a game of football.

NCEL PREMIER
Bridlington 4
Dinnington Town 0

This was their first taste of action since 12th December on a surprisingly good pitch, given the torrential rain and previous snow.

The early exchanges were in midfield as both
teams tried to get to grips with the greasy conditions.

On 14 minutes a great ball by Liam Cartledge found Grant Allott, his squared pass found Michael Blythen under pressure and his hurried shot went wide.

After four successive corners Bridlington took the lead on 23 minutes when Wayne Wallace ran on to a through ball to place his well struck shot past Luke Hands.

Andy Sykes was in the right place on 34 minutes, clearing off the line to keep Town in contention.

Town's best chance came when Allott pierced the Bridlington defence and found Blythen unmarked, but he shot wide.

Bridlington doubled the score on 59 minutes when Tom Fleming ran away from the Dinnington defence to score.

They came close again on 72 minutes but Hands made a great low save to deny substitute Craig Palmer.

Town came back again on 80 minutes when a Danny Lindley and Blythen interchange forced a corner, but nothing came of it.

A two minute blitz sealed the game for Bridlington when on 86 and 88 minutes Ashley Allenson then Palmer both scored.

Town had a late chance to save face in the last minute when Martin Wade's forceful run and shot hit the outside of the post and went out for a goal kick.
