Cricket: Skipper is on top form

IN a high scoring game at Hatfield House Lane, Aston Hall came out on top to maintain their claim for a Premier place next season.
SOUTH YORKSHIRE LEAGUE
Division One
Shiregreen 237 for 8
Aston Hall 266 for 4


Skipper Scott Jones produced a breathtaking knock of 113 in 117 balls. This included 19 fours.

He opened with Dave Furniss, who was more sedate w
ith 60 in 108 deliveries! Together they added 176 for the first wicket when Jones departed.

Carl Tiler now joined the action and, in a typical belligerent knock, smashed 50 not out as Aston hoisted the large total of 266 for 4 in their allotted overs.

Liaqat Ali scored 54 for Shiregreen, but Jason Armstrong carved his way through the middle of the Shiregreen innings claiming 5 for 52.

Division Two
Maltby 190 for 6
Rotherham Town 191 for 5


MALTBY were turned over at Muglet Lane.

The hosts recovered from 32 for 3, with Kevin Porter and Tom Groom adding 98 runs for the fourth wicket before Groom left for 47.

Porter left shortly afterward with 53 to his credit and Maltby posted the good total of 190 for 6.

In reply, Rotherham were once again indebted to Jonathan Allan who reached 50 for the seventh time this season.

Five wickets had fallen when Adam Thorpe joined James Wadsworth in the centre and the pair added 58 unbeaten runs for the winning score.

Thorpe was 37 not out and Wadsworth 53 not out.

Paul Pendle took 4 for 51 for Maltby.

Division Four West
Thorncliffe B 138 for 9
Maltby B 149


AT Loundside, Maltby B reached 149 all out against Thorncliffe B.

Anthony Ward opened with 35 and Mark Rowling hit 41 not out.

Thorncliffe were 11 runs short in their reply, which had reached 138 for 9 at the close.

Jonathan Poynter took 4 for 47 for Maltby.
