KIVETON Park climbed to the top of the table after gaining a winning draw over Retford.
BASSETLAW LEAGUE
Kiveton Park 257 for 9
Retford 207 for 8

Batting first, Kiveton piled up a huge 257 for 9, which was even more meritorious considering this was not the usual Kiveton style track, as it contained a bit of devil in it.

Tim Ward (35), Chris Hadley (70) and Richard Grainger (30) all batted well, while Paul Singleton (5 for 56) was the pick of the Retford attack.

In reply, Retford made a good effort, scoring 207 for 8 with Australian Rob Condy (34), Pascal Broadley (53) and John Cook (40) all well to the fore.

However, Luke Donagy proved very troublesome as he turned the ball so much that pitching outside the off stump went for leg side wides and, needless to say, this troubled Retford badly.

Donagy claimed 3 for 69 and Rob Coxon 3 for 56 as Retford claimed 10 points for the draw in an exhilarating match.

Anston 157 all out
Killamarsh 150 all out

PREVIOUS leaders Killamarsh came down with a real bang against Anston, who have improved in leaps and bounds since an ignominious start to the season.

The arrival of Sri-Lankan star Amila Perera has made a huge difference to them, and it has also lifted the form of some of the other players as they are now looking a decent side.

Batting first, Anston didn't cover themselves with glory and were all back inside for just 157, with John Lyne (37) and Amila Perera (30) top scoring.

At half way, Killamarsh must have been very pleased with themselves.

Although Matt Davis (65) and skipper Adam Whiteley (30) both batted extremely well, the rest of the innings reached nightmare proportions.

Neil Carter (4 for 41) and Amila Perera (4 for 19) simply ripped through some fragile batting at will, and Killamarsh were dismissed for just 150 to give Anston a fantastic seven-run win.

There can be no doubt now that Anston are a match for anyone and more sides will find that they are not a pushover any more.

Killamarsh might well have thought so, but they certainly don't now.

Wadworth 173 all out
Anston II (4) 113 all out

ANSTON'S second string were well beaten by 60 runs.

Steve Atkinson top scored with 45, while D. Powell took 3 for 23 and Mick Pearce 3 for 42.

Rose Leisure 160 for 9
Kiveton Park II 163 for 5

PARK recorded a fine five-wicket victory at North Warren Road.

Everton II 255 for 4
Anston III 162 all out

ANSTON were beaten by 93 runs at the Metcalfe Ground.
