Police have been left “in shock” after discovering a “massive” karaoke party at a house in Derbyshire over the weekend (Sat 28 Mar). The gathering took place in Normanton, Derby, and went against the newly set government lockdown regulations, created to slow down the spread of the virus. Posting to their Twitter account the Derbyshire police force tweeted, “Officers have just attended an address in absolute shock to find 25 adults and children having a massive party with speakers and karaoke. Everyone dispersed and hosts dealt with." “It is clear people are still having complete disregard for the Government advice and rules.” Upon being discovered, the party - which found 25 adults and children playing karaoke with a large set of speakers alongside a large homemade buffet spread - was swiftly dispersed by police. What has been the response on social media? Derbyshire police shared photos of the event on social media, which has gained widespread attention over the host’s unconventional choice of buffet food. Referring to a specific plate in the photograph, one Twitter user questioned, "Is that apricots and .... chicken?!" A different, justice-seeking user deemed imprisonment a fit punishment, but not for the party throwing itself. "There’s chopped egg on that salad . Lock em up," they joked. Ultimately the force issued “strong words of advice” to everyone in attendance before the party was broken up, and no further action was taken.
