Waste collections suspended due to snow
Snow scenes in Dinnington. Swinston Hill Road w130115-6a
Household waste collections have been suspended in Rotherham on safety grounds.
Main roads across the Borough are running well but drivers of the 32 tonne waste vehicles are finding some of the side roads very hazardous making safe driving conditions very difficult.
Householders are advised to put their waste bins out as usual as the waste teams will resume the collection service as soon as possible.
Rotherham Council hopes to get its collection schedule back on track as quickly as possible and appreciates householders patience as crews try to work through these adverse wintery conditions.
The four Household Waste Recycling Centres across the Borough are also experiencing difficulties.
It is hoped they will be open later today (Monday) once the snow has been cleared from the sites and they are safe for the public to use.
Rotherham Mobile Library and Book Link services will not be running today because of both the weather conditions and technical issues.
