Teenager seriously injured in car crash

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was seriously injured when she lost control of her car in Thurcroft on Tuesday evening.

The 19-year-old Bramley woman was driving a grey Vauxhall Tigra from Laughton Common towards Thurcroft on Green Arbour Road.

After going round a right-hand bend, the car left the road 20 metres north of the junction with Hawk Hill Lane.

The Tigra spun 180 degrees before rolling down a shallow bank into a field where it turned back over onto its wheels at around 7.10pm.

The driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to Rotherham District General Hospital.

Her passenger, an 18-year-old Sunnyside woman, sustained slight injuries including whiplash and neck pains. She was taken to hospital but later released.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call the South Yorkshire Police witness help line on 0114 2202970.
