SLIDESHOW: Summer sun for church fairs

YOUNGSTERS were having fun in the summer sun as a pair of church fairs were blessed with warm weather.

St Leonard's Church in Dinnington had scores of children in fancy dress, enjoying the stalls and games in the church grounds.

Meanwhile Christ Church in Swallownest its 20th birthday with a weekend of celebrations, including a special service with new Sheffield bishop Steven Croft.

"He's only just been ordained, and it was his first visit to Swallownest," said Fr Ian Jennings. "It was a bit of a coup for us, as we celebrated two decades of the life of the church."

Church warden Jenny Richardson said: "At the fair we had all sorts of stalls, including a craft stall which had items that were all made by the children during their Sunday club."

"The day was slightly overcast, but really hot. With the service and the fair celebrating 20 years of the church, it made for a wonderful weekend."
