Police are urging Gainsborough residents to be vigilant after a number of burglaries and attempted break-ins over night.

An offender broke into a house through the front door in Elsham Walk, Gainsborough, at around 2am this morning (Tuesday) and stole a white Samsung mobile phone.

A thief also broke into a house in The Pine through a back door at around 3am and stole a Toshiba laptop, a wallet, a Blackberry and a silver Nokia 9810 slide phone.

An attempted break-in took place in Park Springs Road in the early hours where a set of French windows were damaged but the offender did not manage to gain entry.

Occupants of a house in Marlow Road and a house in Corringham Road also reported a man in their back garden in the early hours.

Residents are being urged to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity in their roads as soon as possible.

They are also being reminded to make sure doors and windows are locked at night.

Call Lincolnshire Police with information on 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
