Police question man over Elkesley ‘murder’

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of murder after the death of a 64-year-old man in Elkesley early on Sunday morning.

The man is believed to have sustained serious head injuries during an incident at a house in the village. He died en-route to hospital at around 5am.

A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody.

The dead man has not been formally identified and a post mortem examination is yet to be carried out.

A cordon is in place at a house in Headland Avenue while scenes of crime officers carry out a forensic examination.
