Pile-up closes A619 near Clowne
Traffic and Travel
A MULTI-VEHICLE pile-up has closed the A619 in both directions near Hotel Van Dyke at Clowne.
At 8.15am this morning (Thursday 6th December) a Warburton’s lorry was in collision with a Fiat Punto.
Two other vehicles also became involved in the smash, a Peugeot 206 and a Fiat Panda.
The driver of the Punto, a 17-year-old boy, was taken to Calow hospital with an arm injury. No-one else was badly hurt.
The road is currently closed in both directions between the A618 Rotherham Road junction and Gapsick Lane.
A recovery vehicle is on the scene to retrieve the lorry which had slid into a ditch.
It is thought hazardous driving conditions could have played a part in the smash.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area and find alternative routes, being extra vigilant in case of icy patches.
