Olympic visit from biker Ben

CHILDREN in Laughton got a visit from a famous face this week.

Anston cyclist Ben Swift popped into Laughton All Saints’ School to speak to pupils about his sporting experiences.

Class three pupils were working on a topic about the Olympic legacy and were asked about inspirational people in sport.

Youngster Faye Ellis thought of local cyclist Ben Swift and her father Stephen, a keen cyclist, arranged for the sporting star to visit his daughter and her classmates.

The Team Sky star brought along with him his bike, shirt and his gold medal, which he won last year in the World Championship Men’s Scratch Race.

Youngsters also got the chance to sit on Ben’s bike, and were amazed to discover how light it was.

After speaking to the class, Ben also spoke to the whole school in a special event in the hall.
