Spring has come early at the Tropical Butterfly House, Wildlife and Falconry Centre with lots of young new arrivals.

The centre’s pair of Pygmy Marmosets have just given birth to a tiny baby named Pickle.

The centre has also welcomed two male two-year-old Pygmy Marmosets to the indoor Butterfly House.

The Meerkat mob have been getting acquainted with Mrs Milligan and Kerplunk, two female North African Crested Porcupines, who recently moved into Meerkat Mansion.

At just six-months-old they already dwarf their new companions, and may reach up to twenty-seven kilograms when fully grown.

Andrew Reeve, curator and manager, said: “Having so many baby animals arriving so early in the year has come as a wonderful surprise, and the we are very pleased with how our new additions to the animal collection at the Tropical Butterfly House are settling in.”
