Millers make surprise visit to Bluebell Wood
Rotherham United players Alex Revell and Dale Tonge made a surprise visit to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice recently along with their mascot Miller Bear.
The players were joined by the Community Sports Trust team and brought fabulous presents of teddy bears and footballs for the Bluebell Wood children.
The youngsters enjoyed meeting the players, and Miller Bear created lots of excitement.
Jamie Noble, head of community at Rotherham United Community Sports Trust, said: “I would like to thank the staff, volunteers and most of all the children and their families at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice for the kind hospitality shown to Rotherham United.”
“Today we were fortunate to be given the opportunity to spread Christmas cheer by surprising the children with gifts from Tony Stewart, Steve Evens, Miller Bear and the whole team especially Alex Revell and Dale Tonge.”
“We had the most humbling experience of the year and I cannot begin to put into words what a fantastic job the dedicated staff of the hospice do to make the lives of those young people better at what must be very challenging times in their family’s lives.”
Heidi Megaughin, acting chief executive of Bluebell Wood, thanked everyone for taking time out of their busy schedules to visit the hospice.
She added: “The children were thrilled to meet the players and receive their gifts.”
