Picking up almost 2,000 votes, Amy Rushforth - the daughter of Rother Valley MP Kevin Barron - said:
"I am really happy with the result. It's a convincing win."
"I am also pleased that the BNP have not increased their votes on last time."
BNP candidate Michael Burke said: "I am pleased with the result, considering it was the first time I had stood, and I will stand again."
"Because there was a general election at the same time, people have voted Labour for both."
