Hellaby based credit crunch victim Rosebys sees another five stores close

FIVE more high street stores of Hellaby based firm Rosebys have closed.

Administrators confirmed today that more stores closed their doors on Monday.

Stores in Dagenham, Walsall, Hartlepool, Edinburgh and at Leed's White Rose Centre fell victim to the soft furnishing company going into administration.

Administrators also confirmed on Friday that 32 redundancies had been made at head office and merchandising positions at Rosebys on the Hellaby Industrial Estate.

And 10 further stores closed last Friday resulting in 60 redundancies - none of them local.

The firm called in administrators on Friday 26th September.

Last week stores across the country were displaying closing down sale signs.

But administrators have since confirmed they have received 45 expressions of interest in the business to date, and are in talks with interested parties.

"There has been significant interest in this business, though a deliverable deal has not yet proved possible. We continue to seek offers for the whole or any part of the business, and are in discussions with a number of interested parties," said Howard Smith, joint administrator for KPMG Restructuring.

"Closing some of the poorer performing outlets has been unavoidable to ensure trading remains at profitable levels."

Outlets closed last Thursday were Dunstable, Basildon, Swindon, Brighton, Wood Green, Sutton Coldfield, Oldham, Leicester, Glasgow Sauchiehall Street and Glasgow Forge. Staff at these stores were made redundant last Friday.
