Drugs theft in Maltby

NUMEROUS items of medication were stolen from outside a Maltby bookmakers last Monday.

Five different prescription drugs were taken from an elderly man's mobility scooter when he visited the Tote bookies on Queen's Corner.

The pensioner had earlier collected a month's supply of antibiotics, painkillers and steroid tablets and capsules from a chemist on the High Street.

The drugs, believed to have been taken between 2.30pm and 3.15pm, include:

- Erythromycin ethylsuccinate - an antibiotic, that could cause an upset stomach if taken without prescription.

- Two strengths of levothyroxine sodium tablets, which would cause the heart rate and metabolism to speed up.

- Lansoprazole capsules, used to cut down the build of acid in the stomach.

- Prednisolone tablets, a type of steroid used to control breathing problems.

- Tramadol hydrochloride capsules, a painkiller similar to codeine.

Anyone who finds this medication or knows any other information about the offence should contact Rotherham's Crime Management Unit on 01709 832141.
