Daughter made threats to mum
A WORKSOP teenager has been jailed for threatening to kill her mother.
Megan Ayscough, 19, made the threat in front of police officers who chased her across a field after midnight and handcuffed her.
Nottingham Crown Court was told she said: “I’ll get a gun and shoot her and kill her.”
Ayscough, of Overend Road, admitted making the threat, resisting arrest and breaching a restraining order which banned her from contacting her mother Karen Ayscough between 11pm and 7am.
Sentencing her to 15 months at a young offender institution, Judge James Sampson told her: “This is a persistent course of harassment against your mother. You have a dreadful record of similar offences.”
She was in a distressed state in the Prospect precinct in Worksop after midnight on 23rd October when she phoned her mother, said Jon Fountain, prosecuting. She was subject to a home curfew and should not have been there.
Police officers driving past saw her and caught her after a chase. She swore at them and struggled as she was taken to the police vehicle.
The court heard she had served short custodial sentences for earlier breaches of restraining orders.
In mitigation, it was said her relationship with her mother broke down after her stepfather died in 2007. She moved out when she was 17 but they still had contact when allowed and had spoken on the phone the day before the court hearing. She knew she had to manage her emotions, whether through counselling or medication, the court was told.
