Students from Rotherham College of Arts and Technology have won a £500 grant after coming up with an idea to improve money management skills.

Their idea - credit crunch packed lunch - aims to challenge young people’s lunchtime spending habits.

Christine France from the group said: “We are so excited to be awarded a grant for our project.”

“We spent a lot of time considering what would work best for our local community and felt that bringing together a group of young students to cook and cost out easy but tasty pack up lunches to show other young people how to save money and eat well would make the most impact.”

“We’ve planned out very carefully how our project is going to work and we hope it will secure us a place at the UK Grand Final,” she added.

Now in its second year, The Money for Life Challenge run buy Lloyds Banking Group, is a national competition to encourage young people to run projects to improve money management skills.

The group will spend the next four months trying impress the Money for Life Challenge judges, who will choose the best teams to present at the national final.
