Community cash fund is available - just ask

Gainsborough news

COMMUNITY groups are urged to apply for grant funding from The Thonock Trust before the 10th November deadline.

Not for profit groups can ask for cash to help with running costs, equipment or activities. But they must benefit people living in Gainsborough, Corringham, Blyton, Springthorpe or Lea.

“Funds have recently been awarded to local groups including Performing Arts Club at St Johns to run a training course for young people, Lea Cricket Club for ground improvements and West Lindsey Mature Fitness to provide gentle exercise classes for older people,” said Sue Fortune, grants manager for Lincolnshire Community Foundation.

Groups can apply for up to £2,000, and individuals up to £200.

Individuals could, for example, apply for help with the cost of books, transport, coaching or uniform to enable them to access work, training or education.

There are two funding themes that LCF uses to determine eligibility.

Educational grants are given to community groups, schools and further education providers that encourage educational or cultural activities, or extra curricular personal development opportunities like outings and activities.

Support to improve health and wellbeing of older people is also encouraged. For example activities, dementia services, nutrition, exercise and transport.

Contact Sue Fortune on 01529 305825 to apply with a project idea or for advice.
