Brave soldier is home with family
A brave Kiveton soldier is recovering at home after being injured protecting one of his men in Afghanistan.
Chris Unwin was hurt while out on a mine clearing operation.
He and his men were providing support for the experts searching the road for improvised explosive devices.
Once the road was clear they began escorting the engineers to a checkpoint.
"An RPG rocket exploded just behind us about 50 metres away," said Chris.
"There was small arms fire and we all went for cover, but one of my lads was still stood up."
"I saw the grenade come over the wall, and it all seemed to happen in slow motion. I jumped up and pushed him to the ground."
The force of the explosion threw Chris through the air and into an armoured vehicle.
