I read this from my computer terminal in Nigeria on the Telegraph web site. As the granddaughter of ex Maltby Pit Coal Miner, Tim Miskell, I genuinely sympathise with your loss. Regards to all his family and friends and his colleagues at the pit.

Jayne Senior

I worked with Jack for 8 years at Maltby and I was totally devastated when I heard the news, he was a top bloke and will be greatly missed. our thoughts are with you at this sad time. fast fred

We are so sorry to hear about jack

We will always think of you and the laughs we had on holiday

All our love john and Shelly (Fred)

I worked at Maltby colliery from 1992-1996 and was there when the pit went private.I was part of the "pit bottom" contractors that Jack was also in from 1994-1996 and during that 2 year period I can honestly say Jack was the most cheerful man at Maltby pit, even during stressful times.Although we've never seen each other since,I was devastated to hear of Jacks death but his personality still stays with me.

My thoughts are with you

Eddie Baxter (fitter)
