Firefighters saved a bin lorry from severe damage after rubbish it was carrying caught fire this morning (Monday).

Crews from Retford were called to the lorry which was on Tiln Lane, Retford at around 8.30am.

Firefighters extinguished most of the fire while the rubbish was still in the back of the lorry.

They then asked the driver to dump the rubbish just outside Retford so they could ensure the blaze was completely out.

It is unclear how the fire started.
