Armed men raid Swallownest betting shop

Police are appealing for information following at alleged armed robbery at a betting shop in Swallownest.

It is believed that three men entered Betfred on Main Street armed with shotguns around 9.20pm on Wednesday 20th February and demand the cashier open the safe.

During the alleged robbery, one of the men is understood acted as a look out, keeping the door to the bookmakers open.

A dog belonging to one of the customers is reported to have run out of the door and been killed by a car.

The men are described as being 6ft tall, and all three were reportedly wearing balaclavas and boiler suits. It is believed that one of the men may have been wearing small silver-rimmed glasses.

Anyone with any information, or who may have witnessed the incident, should contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 1125 of 20 February 2013.
