Worksop and District Photographic Society: Last Wednesday the society welcomed husband and wife team Peter and Carol Cheetham. Both Peter and Carol hold APAGB distinctions and are key members of the North and East Midlands Photographic Federation administration team. Peter is a traditional photographer using Leica equipment and producing quality monochrome images in the darkroom, a time consuming and meticulous process which most of us have gratefully abandoned in favour of digital technology. With a large selection of black and white prints, Peter took us to a variety of locations in the UK, France and Thailand. The images were accompanied by an informed and entertaining lecture, which included a sobering tribute to those men who suffered as prisoners of the Japanese, forced to labour on the Burma railway. Carol Cheetham then presented a selection of colour prints mainly produced from scanned transparencies. The quality was excellent and the images were once again accompanied by an entertaining lecture. Club vice president, Colin Brenchley, gave the vote of thanks and the evening concluded with a raffle. The next meeting on 19th November will feature PAGB exhibition slides with a recorded commentary.
