ROTHERHAM Council will recieve a reward of almost £1.5million for successfully promoting economic growth.
South Yorkshire as a whole has been awarded £9.3million from the Government, to spend as each authority sees fit on local priorities.
John Healey, local government minister and MP for Wentworth, confirmed a total of £300million funding for councils nationwide.
"This rewards the work they've done to boost their local economies and aims to encourage councils to play a bigger role in backing business and new jobs in their area."
"Over the last three years this scheme has made a real difference to local communities, so I want to ensure that we continue to provide an incentive for local authorities to promote local business growth."
The money follows consultation on provisional allocations announced in April. It comes from the Local Authority Business Growth Incentives scheme.
Sheffield Council was given £3.1million, Doncaster £3.7million and Barnsley was awarded £902,379.
