A STAGE show retelling of a Roald Dahl classic comes to Sheffield next week.
The BFG tells the story of little orphan Sophie, who is snatched from her bed in the dead of night by the eponymous giant.

She fears the worst – especially with his human-chomping neighbours like the Bloodbottler and the Fleshlumpeater.

But BFG is different. He is a dream catcher, with no interest in causing Sophie any harm, and takes her on a wild journey she never could have imagined.

This new stage version of Dahl's 1982 book promises to bring the adventure to new audiences, bringing dreams to life and covering lifelong friendships. It runs at the Lyceum Theatre from Tuesday 16th to Saturday 20th June.

And after the 1.30pm performance on Thursday (18th), there will be a Chatterbox session – a chance for youngsters to put questions about the show to members of the theatre company.

Wednesday's performance will see a special four-legged guest star. The Lyceum invited dog owners to audition their stardom-craving canines for a walk-on role.

"We'll be putting the dogs through some simple obedience tests and making sure they are happy to be handled by other people and won't be put off by the buzz of the theatre surroundings and the audience," said senior media officer Philip Strafford.

Auditions have been taking place this week, and the winning owner will pick up a free family ticket for next weekend.

The corgi will walk on during the short second-half scene to glorious acclaim, sharing the stage with the Queen of England, played by Heather Phoenix. After a few minutes, it will be led away by Mr Tibbs the butler.

Morning, afternoon and evening performances will take place, and tickets are £11 to £15.
