WALES High School received a special visitor last week.

Jose Gorostiaga, ambassador for Paraguay, came to meet staff and pupils.

The school has been in partnership with the Colegio Aula Viva in the South American country since 2003 to develop foreign languages.

The visit was organised to build links between Wales High School and the Paraguay establishment.

Since becoming partners five years ago, pupils and teachers have exchanged visits and taken part in joint art exhibitions.

Gareth Hughes, international dimension co-ordinator, said the ambassador enjoyed meeting pupils and staff.

"Jose spent the afternoon going round the school and meeting pupils and staff," he said.
