GOMORRA (15)

Directed by Matteo Garrone, starring Salvatore Abruzzese, Simone Sacchettino and Salvatore Ruocco. Based on an Italian non-fiction bestseller about the Neapolitan mob known as the Camorra, Garrone's film travels from the horrifying slum projects of suburban Naples to the corporate suites and the high-fashion ateliers, and finds them all poisoned and corrupted by organised crime.

CITY OF EMBER (PG)

Directed by Gil Kenan, starring Bill Murray, Tim Robbins and Saoirse Ronan. Ember is a city built to last 200 years. The Builders of this city left instructions to the mayors in a box that would open by itself, unfortunately, one of the mayors was corrupt, and tossed the box into a closet, to be forgotten about for centuries.

Mirrors (15)

Directed by Alexandre Aja, starring Kiefer Sutherland, Paula Patton and Cameron Boyce. A mall security guard (Kiefer Sutherland) becomes wrapped up in a mystery involving a particular department store's mirrors which seem to bring out the worst in people. Down through the ages, mirrors have always been gateways to other worlds.

NIGHTS IN RODANTHE (PG)

Directed by George C. Wolfe, starring Diane Lane, Richard Gere and James Franco. Adrienne Willis (Diane Lane) a woman with her life in chaos, retreats to the tiny coastal town of Rodanthe, in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, to tend to a friend's inn for the weekend. Here she hopes to find the tranquility she so desperately needs to rethink the conflicts surrounding her.

The House Bunny (12A)

Directed by Fred Wolf, starring Anna Faris, Colin Hanks and Emma Stone. A Playboy bunny, Shelley (‘Scary Movie’ star Anna Farris) gets kicked out of the House of Hef and becomes the house mother to the lamest sorority on the college campus. Before long she helps the girls to learn not to conform to society's expectations.

The Mutant Chronicles (18)

Directed by Simon Hunter, starring John Malkovich, Ron Pearlman and Devon Aoki. ‘The Mutant Chronicles’ takes place in the year 2707. Earth's natural resources have been exhausted by mankind. Battle rages between the soldiers of four leading Corporations: the Capitol, Bauhaus, Mishima and Imperial.

I Loved you so long (12A)

Directed by Philippe Claudel, starring Kristin Scott Thomas, Elsa Zylberstein and Serge Hazanavicius. Two sisters who haven't seen each other for 15 years gradually rediscover common ground and a way of relating to each other. First seen distractedly puffing on a cigarette as she waits for her younger sister Lea (Elsa Zylberstein) at an airport, Juliette (Scott Thomas) is a plainly dressed, middle-aged woman with tired hair and even more tired eyes, whose story slowly emerges throughout the picture.

Brideshead Revisted (12A)

Directed by Julian Jarrold, starring Emma Thompson, Michael Gambon and Matthew Goode. ‘Brideshead Revisited’ tells an evocative story of forbidden love and the loss of innocence set in the pre-WWII era. The story is told by Charles Ryder (Matthew Goode), who when we meet him, is a famous painter, a guest on a postwar Atlantic crossing.

The Evacuees. Barnby Memorial Hall, Blyth at 7.30pm with a matinee at 2.15pm tomorrow. This production by Blyth Players follows a group of youngsters at the beginning of the Second World War. Written by Chris Adams and Michael Sullivan and licensed by Chester Music Ltd. Tickets 6.50 for adults, and 5.50 concessions with a wartime buffet included in the cost. Derek Acorah. Winding Wheel, Chesterfield at 7.30pm. One of the UK's most popular spiritual mediums and famed for appearances on Living TV's Most Haunted. Tickets 17.50.

The Graduate. Pomegranate Theatre, Chesterfield at 7.30pm tonight and tomorrow. Based on the novel by Charles Webb and the motion picture screenplay by Calder Willingham and Buck Henry.Terry Johnson's notorious stage adaptation of the great Oscar-winning film from the swinging sixties, is a sizzling, adult, romantic comedy. Tickets 8-10.50.

Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. Nottingham's Theatre Royal. Tonight and tomorrow at 7.30pm. Retelling the Biblical story of Joseph, his eleven brothers, and the coat of many colours, this magical musical is full of unforgettable songs including Any Dream Will Do, Close Ev'ry Door To Me and One More Angel. Newcomer Craig Chalmers, one of the most popular finalists in the recent hit BBC series Any Dream Will Do takes on the title role, having delighted TV audiences week after week with his vocal talents. Tickets 12.50-24.

Evita. Sheffield Lyceum at 7.30pm. This new production of the classic musical, Evita, sees Louise Dearman in the lead role of Eva Peron, who rises from humble beginnings to a place in the hearts of the Argentinian people. Joining Louise in the role of Che is Seamus Cullen, popular finalist from the hit BBC TV programme Any Dream Will Do, Mark Heenehan as Juan Peron. Performances run until Saturday 25th October. Detroit Social Club. The Leadmill, Sheffield at 7pm. A combination of New York’s vibrant 1970s punk scene with the Detroit Garage stage of the mid 1990s, with heavy bass, drums and raw and powerful vocals. Suitable for aged 14 and above. Tickets 6.

Royal British Legion (Creswell Branch). Creswell Social Centre, Elmton Road at 7pm. Fundraising evening in aid of Poppy Appeal. Doors open at 7pm with standards marching in at 7.30pm. Includes concert party 'It Ain't Half Hot Mum' performed by members of 277 FOS Mess, followed by a raffle and from 9.30pm music from local rock band Cold Gin. Joe Longthorne In Concert. Mansfield Palace Theatre at 7pm. This artist began his career over three decades ago with appearances on Junior Showtime, followed by a grounding on the tough Northern club circuit. His big break came in 1981 when he was a finalist on London Weekend Television's Search for a Star. He is perhaps best known for his impersonation of Shirley Bassey who has commented, 'Joe can do me better than I can do myself'.

Monday

Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers. Civic Theatre, Doncaster at 7.30pm. This group with taiko drums is back by popular demand. The drums interweave with delicate bamboo flute and layers of subtle percussion in an impressive display of choreography. For more information about the group, see their website www.taiko.co.uk. Tuesday

Follow Me. The Palace Theatre, Newark at 8pm. This take on capital punishment has wowed audiences at the Edinburgh Festival 2007, Adelaide and Brighton Festivals 2008. Described as extraordinarily tense, powerful and moving, it will grip you from first to last.Tickets 10-12.

Wednesday

Macbeth. Nottingham Playhouse at 7.30pm. Shakespeare's bloodiest tragedy. Confronted by three witches as he returns from battle, Macbeth, Thane of Glamis, is given a tantalising vision of the future – he will acquire great power in his homeland, first as Thane of Cawdor and then as King of Scotland. Tickets 9-26.50.

HMS Pinafore. Majestic Theatre, Retford at 7.30pm until Saturday 25th October. This comic tale of the sea with its intrigue, love and romance is brought to life under the direction of Martin Yates with full orchestra, The Captain of the Pinafore, who claims he would never swear at his crew, does not know that his daughter has fallen in love with a common sailor. Tickets 8-10.

Stephen Holbrook. Little Theatre at Retford at 7.30pm on Wednesday 22nd October. Talented medium Stephen Holbrook is known for wowing audiences with his demonstrations of contact with the supernatural. There will also be a charity collection for a childrens charity called PACT, that helps kids all over the UK who have terminal cancer and leukaemia. Thursday

Whitwell Junior Players Concert. Whitwell Community Centre at 7.30pm on 23rd and 24th October. With a range of singing and acting performances, the junior players are showing off their talent. Tickets cost 3 and are available from the community centre.

Looking ahead

20,000 Leagues Under the Office. The Acorn Theatre, Worksop at 7.30pm. Two office workers on a lunch break suddenly find themselves plunging towards the centre of the earth in Publick Transport’s hit debut show. En route they discover ingenious bracing positions, an obsession with rhubarb crumble, cannibalism, Ronnie Biggs, confessions of love, and, ultimately, themselves. Tickets 7-8.

The Jungle Book. Lyceum, Sheffield at 7pm. The Birmingham Stage Company is proud to present Rudyard Kipling's classic story about Mowgli, a young boy who is raised in the jungle by a family of wolves. When Shere Khan the tiger swears to kill the child, Baloo and Bagheera agree to take the boy to the man village for his safety. 9-15.

Jive Talkin’ - The Bee Gees Story. The Civic Theatre, Doncaster at 7.30pm on Wednesday 5th November. Unites the UK's hottest talent for an inspiring evening of everything Bee Gees. Featuring the stunningly convincing vocals of Brothers Darren and Gary Simmons as Barry and Robin Gibb, as well as Jarrod Loughlin as Maurice Gibb. Tickets 14-15.50.
