SCN kids are film stars now

KIDS from Worksop's SCN Theatre School have taken part in a trailer to promote a homegrown Cinderella film.

In total, 25 students from the theatre took part in filming for the trailer in Sundown Adventureland, which serves as a proof-of-concept to attract funding for organisers Backyard Production to create a full-length film.

Head of the school, Stephen Plant, said pupils were thrilled by the opportunity to take part in a professional production, meet lead performers and learn choreography.

”They thought it was absolutely fantastic,” he said. ”When they got there, they thought it was just going to be a couple of cameras.”

’They loved working with a professional cast and film company. For these kids, who are as young as three, it’s a stepping stone, and hopefully it will open a lot of doors for them.”

SCN Theatre School itself provides professional tuition in performing arts, including acting and dance, for children aged three to 16. It meets every Sunday and puts on performances once a week.

If the trailer attracts enough funding a full-length film, pupils will be guaranteed a role in the final production. The trailer itself is to be released at the end of November.
