Folk fans get a musical treat

The Fraser Sisters duo are set to showcase their multi-instrumental talents, and their voices at Worksop's Acorn Theatre next Thursday 16th October.

After a successful September launch gig with Lester Simpson and Nigel Corbett, folk fans from far and wide are spreading the word about the monthly programme of folk, and world music performers now booked to July 2009.

Jo Freya, nee Fraser, and sister Fi Fraser are long-established in the folk scene, and their uncanny harmonic blends have graced albums by the likes of The Old Swan Band and Blowzabella, which have become classics.

Acorn Folk’s concert fixer David Jordan said the Acorn Theatre, a registered charity, had taken an ambitious but successful decision to add folk and roots to its artistic programme.

”We’ve a top-notch monthly line up coming, including Eleanor McEvoy, Martin Simpson, Tams and Coope, Dick Gaughan, Chumbawamba, Coope Boyes and Simpson, Chris Wood, Carthy Waterson Parkinson and Black Umfolosi 5,” he said. ”What more could folk and roots lovers want? Come on down, and tell others.”

Tickets for the 7.30pm concert are priced 8 or 4 for under 19s.
