Crossing events

Worskop's The Crossing has two forthcoming concerts promising a nostalgic trip down musical memory lane.

Tomorrow (Saturday 4th October), there is Those You Have Loved, featuring northern string quartet Silver Strings .

Silver Strings’ cellist Liz Hanks said the concert would feature classic items such as the Bach Double Violin Concerto, and Ravel's spine-tingling Bolero, but would also include some more contemporary sounds.

”To get a good mix you’ll also hear more modern classics like Dave Brubeck’s Take Five, The Carpenters’ Close to You and the highly emotive Gabriel’s Oboe from the film The Mission,” she said.

Two weeks later on Saturday 18th October, songs that boosted the morale of this country throughout the horrors of two world wars, are the focus of the concert We’ll Meet Again, complete with flags and bunting.

Operatic duo Classical Encounters promise to bring a high quality evening of unashamed nostalgia to The Crossing, and soprano Sally-Ann Shepherdson said they were looking forward to the event.

"We’ve heard a lot about Music at The Crossing, so we're bringing a great programme which features the music of Ivor Novello, Noel Coward, Rodgers and Hart, and the songs made famous by Gracie Fields, Vera Lynn and Anne Shelton.

Tickets for both events are priced 8, 6 (for rear seats), 4 for Under 19s.

Further details of the two 7.30pm concerts on 4th and 18th October are in the new brochure now at The Crossing’s Welcome Desk. For more information, email info@crossingmusic.org or call 01909 475421.
