Blyth Players prepare for war

CITY folk moving to the country to escape wartime air raids is the setting for Blyth Players' latest presentation.

The Evacuees, written by Chris Adams and Michael Sullivan and licensed by Chester Music Ltd, follows a group of youngsters at the beginning of the Second World War.

They live with total strangers in order to keep safe.

The young people soon develop relationships with their country counterparts, before looking to make their way back home.

The cast consists mainly of talented young actors from Blyth, Worksop, Carlton and Oldcotes, supported by the more senior players.

Blyth Players secretary Mick Taylor said: “This is a production which illustrates the talents of our local youngsters, and is something which should not be missed.”

The production is staged at the Barnby Memorial Hall, Blyth, with three evening performances from Thursday 16th to Saturday 18th October at 7.30pm. A matinee peformance will take place on the Saturday.

A wartime buffet is included in the ticket price of 6.50 for adults, and 5.50 concessions. Tickets can be purchased by calling 01909 531289, emailing m.f.taylor@dsl.pipex.com or from Blyth Post Office.
