THE MUSIC of Queen will be brought to life at Clumber Park with a special show on Saturday 16th August.
Composer Richard Sidwell brings the Queen Rock & Symphony Spectacular to Notts after having worked on music preparation for smash hit West End show We Will Rock You, which was arranged by his elder brother Steve.

With over 70 performers live on stage there will be a lot to hear and while Peter Harrison conducts the English National Orchestra and full rock band, Richard will be on the sound desk.

All the singers have been approved by Queen guitarist Brian May himself and Richard says recreating the sounds of Queen is a big job.

"It was an incredibly daunting task, like taking a masterpiece and trying to improve it," said Richard.

"It was almost like being asked to rewrite a novel by Charles Dickens. You don't want to spoil it, you just want to make it bigger."

"It's an amazing and lovely feeling to hear music that you have arranged played back. You think that's a good arrangement, and wow, it's mine!"

"The aim was to keep the music sounding like Queen with a full rock band and singers, but to enhance and elaborate it by adding orchestral colour and texture.

"A lot of Queen's music has a classical, operatic and theatrical edge, so it lends itself really well," he said.

Both Brian May and Queen drummer Roger Taylor have an open invitation to the outdoor concerts and Richard hopes they'll come, though it's unlikely you'll see them leap on stage and grab instruments themselves.

Organisers promise Clumber will offer a magnificent backdrop to this superb evening of epic entertainment.
