Audiences are promised an unforgettable music and variety extravaganza, courtesy of the Lindrick Players and their latest production at Carlton Village Hall, from Thursday 23rd to Saturday 25th October.

The society was unable to stage a summer show as they have in previous years, and so planned an October show which would delight both young and old audiences alike.

The show is called Yesterday, Today, Forever, and aims to transport its audiences through time to memories from around the turn of 1900 to the present day.

Director Sarah Hemsall said the cast has been busy rehearsing for the production, and promised an entertaining show with a difference.

”You will experience each decade through a mixture of songs, dances and acting, and there should be something for everyone to enjoy,” she said.

”So why not come along and ‘twist again’ when ‘it’s been a hard day’s night’? Meet the ‘Muppets, Jake The Peg and the Spice Girls, while remembering England’s football glory in 1966. Let your hair down and knees up Mother Brown, and you’ll be wishing that We’ll Meet Again by the end.”

Over in Whitwell, variety is the spice of life as the village’s recently-formed troupe, the Junior Players, are getting ready to show off their newly-honed talents in an action-packed show.

The group of youngsters, aged between eight and 15, have been hard at work coming up with a varied programme of sketches, poems, dances and songs, under the careful eye of tutors Janet Astle and Amanda Beamish.

Janet said audiences would be guaranteed an entertaining show, which would be the perfect showcase for the youngsters’ dramatic skills.

”It’s just to show what the kids can do, and how they have come on in the past few months,” she said. ”Some of them were really shy when they started. They were like a flower bud at the beginning, and now they have opened up to a nice flower. They are so different.”
