Dear Sirs,

Once again your newspaper seems to think that it is qualified to put itself up to be Judge, Jury and Executioner in the case of the New Village Hall in Wales.

Your comments are very misleading and extremely naive, plus many of the "facts" you q
uote are wrong.

The £1million hall referred to is going to cost £1.4 million, 40% more than admitted, according to Mrs Blanksby at the last public information meeting.

The main issues at stake were the safeguards that needed to be put in place to protect the parish assets, once a limited company had become involved. We have still not been given any concrete information on just what, if any, agreements are in place to protect parish assets.

More importantly are those agreements worth the paper that they are written on, if they are later challenged in a Court of Law?

This is a very serious matter, and to put it into perspective the hall so far has cost each voter £145 and our parish taxes have gone up because of it. Could that all be for nothing?

Public money is still being pumped into this "arms length venture" that should never have left the control of the Wales Parish Council, as originally, and recently, decreed by its parishioners.

The new hall is to be licensed. Why do we need another "Pub" in the village?

There are more than enough already, and many of them are struggling to keep open. Some less well run establishments have already closed.

Previously the old village hall could be used for a variety of public meetings, but some of those meetings cannot be held on licensed premises, and what about the young persons groups who used the old hall previously?

The Hall is now completed we are told, but has anyone spotted that the whole place is devoid of all fittings. Where is the money coming from to buy those if the Parish is already subbing them for £16,000.00?

We all agree that we need a new village hall, but that hall must be sustainable, not just run to satisfy the egos of a few, and end up costing the ratepayers very dearly for something they will not own.
