Remembering Broughs the grocers
BROUGHS grocery shop on Laughton Road, Dinnington, with all the staff outside - just note the price of butter per pound.
The store was situated next door to the Natwest Bank, and an electrical appliance store now stands on the site.
They gave personal attention to the customers, and a door to door delivery service – a rather rare commodity in this day and age, where supermarkets are king.
We may have progressed in a fashion but the older generation I know would yearn for the service and politeness shown in shops such as this.
The History Society has a huge collection of early photograps depicting Dinnington and surrounding area, we are always looking for more to borrow and place on our database.
The group meets at Dinnington Resource Centre every Thursday from 10am to 12pm, with an annual membership cost of 5. For further information, call 07977271525.
